What is the Fifth Municipal District?
Cook County divides its suburban court system into municipal districts. Bridgeview is the courthouse for the Fifth Municipal District.
The Clerk lists these communities as served by District 5:
Alsip, Bedford Park, Bridgeview, Burbank, Burr Ridge, Chicago Ridge, Countryside, Crestwood, Evergreen Park, Forest View, Hickory Hills, Hinsdale, Hodgkins, Hometown, Indian Head Park, Justice, La Grange, Lemont, Lyons, McCook, Merrionette Park, Oak Forest, Oak Lawn, Orland Hills, Orland Park, Palos Heights, Palos Hills, Palos Park, Stickney, Summit, Tinley Park, Western Springs, Willow Springs, and Worth.
Where you live does not by itself determine the courthouse. For traffic matters, the Clerk says courtroom assignment depends on where the ticket was issued and the police agency involved. Always confirm the courthouse and courtroom on your ticket, summons, bond paperwork, or latest court order.
Traffic, DUI, and license matters heard in Bridgeview
Official categories include licenses, misdemeanor criminal proceedings, felony preliminary hearings, and ordinance and traffic enforcement. For drivers that can include speeding and other moving violations, aggravated speeding, reckless driving, traffic charges connected to a crash, driving without valid insurance, driving while suspended or revoked, local ordinance vehicle violations, DUI and related license-suspension proceedings, and preliminary proceedings in more serious criminal cases.
A ticket that looks routine can affect more than the immediate fine. Do not assume paying is the least harmful option.
How to find your case and courtroom
Look on your paperwork for the courthouse, date and time, courtroom, ticket or citation number, case number, issuing police agency, and whether an appearance is required. If anything is unclear, use the Clerk’s official lookup.
Search carefully. A new citation may not appear immediately. If the online information conflicts with your paperwork, contact the Bridgeview Clerk at (708) 974-6500. District 5 traffic-services email: Bridgeviewdist5trafficservices@cookcountycourt.com.
Do not rely on a random internet search, an old screenshot, or someone else’s Zoom information.
Before your first court date
This is general information, not legal advice.
- Read every page of your paperwork.
- Check the official docket.
- Keep your ticket, summons, bond paperwork, Secretary of State notices, prior orders, and correspondence.
- Bring government photo ID if you have one.
- Preserve photos, video, insurance documents, receipts, and witness information. Do not edit or discard potential evidence.
- Tell your attorney your complete driving history and goals.
- Confirm how you are expected to appear. Never assume a public Zoom link means your hearing is remote.
- Review courthouse security restrictions.
Do I have to appear in court?
The answer depends on the case.
For a traffic ticket, whether Driver Defense Team may appear without the client can depend on the ticket type, where the client lives, the judge, and the outcome being requested. Your attorney will tell you whether your appearance is required for each court date.
For any criminal offense, the client appears. Some dates are in person; a particular date may be Zoom when the court authorizes it. A public Zoom meeting ID does not establish that you are allowed to use Zoom for your hearing.
Circuit Court publishes Fifth District Zoom information by courtroom. Use it only after confirming your specific date is remote. If Zoom is authorized, follow court ID and decorum rules. Recording or photographing is prohibited.
Bridgeview has a Remote Access Center in Room LL060 for litigants who need court-provided equipment or help connecting to an authorized remote hearing.
Parking and security
The Circuit Court currently lists parking as free in the north-side lot, accessed from 76th Avenue. Accessible spaces are available.
Everyone entering a Cook County courthouse goes through security screening. The Sheriff’s prohibited-items list includes weapons, pepper spray/mace, cameras/recording equipment, tools, glass, aerosol cans, and other items security considers unsafe. Check the current policy before packing. The official Bridgeview page also links the cellphone and electronic-device ban.
Bridgeview case results
These are individual cases, not a win rate and not a promise about your case.
- DDT client gets license back after DUI at Bridgeview Courthouse: Burbank police approached a client asleep in a truck. Officers noted empty beer cans and the client refused a chemical test, which led to a one-year statutory summary suspension. After trial, the client was found not guilty, and the suspension was terminated immediately.
- DDT helps Cook County driver reinstate driving privileges: A Countryside driver on a Restricted Driving Permit drove on a Sunday after her mother had a diabetic seizure, was rear-ended, and was charged with driving on a revoked license at Bridgeview. The charge was amended so the reinstatement path was not blocked.
