We're Now Taking Cases in Will County
Driver Defense Team is now taking cases in Will County.
The traffic and DUI defense we've built across Cook and the collar counties is now available to drivers in Will County — from the courthouse in Joliet to the branch courts in Bolingbrook, Frankfort, Plainfield, and Peotone. If you've been pulled over on I-55, I-80, or anywhere else in the county, you can call us today.
We take a county seriously before we take its cases. That's why our Will County work is anchored by an attorney who has already stood in that courthouse — from the other side of it.
We know this courthouse from the inside
Before Gilbert P. Broderick III defended drivers, he prosecuted them — in Will County.
As a Rule 711–licensed law clerk for the Will County State's Attorney's Office, Gilbert tried a range of Illinois Vehicle Code violations in a Will County misdemeanor courtroom, including DUIs and fleeing-and-eluding charges. He has appeared before nearly every judge in the Will County courthouse, and he took a second-offense hospital blood-draw case up on appeal out of that courthouse — the kind of issue that decides whether the State's central piece of evidence is admissible at all.
That's what we mean when we say we didn't arrive cold. The attorney anchoring our Will County cases has seen how the State builds a case there out of a squad-car video and a field-sobriety report, which violations get reduced and which ones don't, and what that courtroom expects to hear.
Will County is home ground for him, too. Gilbert graduated from Lewis University in Romeoville, where he double-majored in Criminal Justice and Political Science and helped lead his mock trial team to a national championship — a few exits up the interstate from the courthouse where he started his career.
The experience he brings to your Will County case
Gilbert earned his Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, made the national trial team, and went straight into private practice with a focus on DUI defense. Since then he has:
- Resolved more than 100 DUI cases
- Litigated the constitutionality of sobriety checkpoints and hospital blood draws — the kind of suppression fight that can end a DUI case before it reaches a plea discussion
- Handled close to 100 trials and hearings, spanning DUI, traffic, felony defense, personal injury, civil-rights restoration, and expungement and sealing
- Practiced across Cook County and the collar counties, from McHenry in the north to Grundy and LaSalle in the west
That's the experience Driver Defense Team now brings to Will County.
In Gilbert's Words
"For most people a ticket isn't about the ticket. It's their license, their insurance, their CDL, sometimes their job — and I've never met a client who thought their case was small. I prosecuted these cases in Will County before I defended them, I've been in front of nearly every judge in that courthouse, and I know how that building runs. I know what the other side is looking at."
